We naively thought that handball was well on its way to being a friendly sport for the FFL. But with him, we understood that we were immersed in a highly toxic relationship.
The Blues continue their march backwards in handball
Easy winners over Sweden for their first match since their fantastic Olympic Games, the French faced Norway at home. An opposition to be put to the credit of the Euro Cup, a competition bringing together France and three Scandinavian countries; Norway, Denmark and Sweden. Faced with this nation which tortures the Blues so much in biathlon, we hoped to see their handball counterparts reserve the same fate. And guess what? We were overcome by immense disappointment.
The match begins, and the French make it clear to the Norwegians that they have not made the trip to visit the fjords. Guillaume Gille's men did better than resist in this period, so much so that they took the lead at the break (17-14). All the Scandinavian supporters present in Stavanger begin to look away from the field, the spectacle being abominable for them. The Blues make the Norwegians their sparring partners. And when it's not the attack that sinks the Scandinavians, it's the defense that makes them bite the dust. What a sport my friends.
France won 31-27 on Norwegian soil, and won for the second time in 48 hours. And to top it all off, Ludovic Fabregas finished as MVP of the match. We miss the Olympic Games terribly.
