searches at the LFP headquarters and Labrune's home as part of an investigation

As part of an investigation into the agreement signed between the Professional League and the CVC investment fund, the headquarters of the LFP and the home of its president Vincent Labrune were searched.

The Professional Football League is experiencing another eventful morning. As the newspaper reveals The Team the headquarters of the LFP and the home of its president Vincent Labrune were searched as part of an investigation into the agreement between the League and CVC Capital Partners. The investment fund concluded the deal in April 2022, investing 1.5 billion euros in order to acquire 13% of the League's capital.

The agreement was ratified in November 2023 by the General Assembly of the LFP and was to allow the creation of a commercial company. Several clubs, including , strongly contested this agreement. In the process, the anti-corruption association “AC!!” filed a complaint with the National Financial Prosecutor’s Office (PNF). It was as part of an investigation following this complaint that the Research Section of the gendarmerie began searches.

A Senate report had already alerted

Last week, a senatorial commission of inquiry issued a report which recommended numerous reforms for French football. Vincent Labrune's large salary increase had been singled out, as well as the agreement between the LFP and CVC. The report recommended, among other things,“make a clear distinction between the activities of professional leagues and those of their commercial companies by clearly separating the league from its subsidiary”.
