The Audi-owned Sauber team is just days away from announcing Nico Hulkenberg's teammate for 2025.
And barring a huge surprise, the various sources have told Brazil that McLaren has agreed to release promising debutant Gabriel Bortoleto as part of a long-term contract with Audi.
Sauber did not want to take advantage of the weekend in Sao Paulo to announce it, although Bortoleto is Brazilian, and intends to keep Bortoleto's contract secret at least for a few more days.
Sauber representative Alessandro Alunni Bravi, however, said just before Sunday's Brazilian GP that the team is expected to name Hulkenberg's teammate in the coming days.
"Well, yes, they tell me decisions will be made soon," confirms Valtteri Bottas, holder who is now on the verge of being sacked.
“In my opinion, it's a good thing, because it should have happened a long time ago. We've been waiting for quite a while.”
“Whether it's a yes or a no, I hope we find out soon. I also need to know what I'm doing in 2025.”
