“Without him, I would not have fought”, Francis Ngannou burst into tears while talking about his deceased son

This Saturday evening in MMA, Francis Ngannou clearly beat the Brazilian Renan Ferreira. After the fight, the 38-year-old Cameroonian dedicated his victory to his son who died last April.

Shows, smiles, screams but also tears. Cameroonian Francis Ngannou (38 years old), who made his return to MMA under the banner of the PFL (organization competing with the UFC in MMA) three years after his last fight, went through all the emotions. He first largely defeated the Brazilian Renan Ferreira without trembling but also shed a few tears at the end of his success.

Francis Ngannou paid tribute to his son Kobe, who died at just 15 months old last April. “I can’t think about anything other than my son Kobe. I wanted to fight for him. I’m glad I did this for my son. I accepted this fight for him. I hope we all remember his name because without him we wouldn’t be here today, I wouldn’t have fought.”. For the anecdote, the Cameroonian had decided to call his son Kobe in reference to the former NBA legend Kobe Bryant.

“I lost the most beautiful belt, which I will never get back. You know, this fight for me was also a way to find out if I could still fight, if I still had the strength, if I could handle the pressure, the fight week, the media and everything else. Yes, we will get through this, and I think it will take a little time to digest things.”he added at a press conference.
