Formula 1 | Aston Martin : Crawford to do post-season testing in Abu Dhabi

Aston Martin has announced that Jak Crawford will contest post-season testing in Abu Dhabi. This day of testing, which takes place on the Tuesday after the last Grand Prix, will allow the Formula 2 driver to take the wheel of a Formula 1 on the circuit.

This week he drove the old AMR22 from two years ago during a demo in Austin (photos below). During this public event, the car sported a different livery to celebrate the new generation of Aramco products, but this decoration will not be visible on track this weekend.

“I am very excited to drive the AMR24 for the first time in Abu Dhabi. I have spent many hours on the simulator at the AMR Technology Campus, and I will continue to do so before testing to make sure I’m well prepared” Crawford said.

“Yas Marina is a circuit I know well, so I hope this will help me get up to speed quickly. I would like to say a big thank you to the entire Aston Martin team for giving me the chance to drive the car this year during the trials.”

Mike Krack, the team director, wants to confirm the potential detected in the young American: “We look forward to giving Jak the opportunity to drive the AMR24 in Abu Dhabi as part of his role in Aston Martin’s young driver development programme.”

“He has already shown a high level of understanding during previous tests with us this year and I know he will work hard to prepare for testing whilst competing in the final two rounds of the F2 championship.”
