Harrie Lavreysen equals Arnaud Tournant in number of world championship titles after his team sprint title

It was the big attraction of this first day of the Ballestrup Worlds. The team speed competition crowned its king, as almost always since 2018. Along with Roy van den Berg and Jeffrey Hoogland, Harrie Lavreysen left only crumbs to the Australians, trailing by more than six tenths of a second. The Dutch champion at the same time becomes the track rider with the most world championship titles, alongside Arnaud Tournant, who also has 14 titles. He will have an opportunity, from Thursday on the keirin, to be alone on the throne. The team, notably composed of Matthew Richardson, another star of the track, was therefore content with second place. The Japanese complete the podium.

One often hides another on the tracks of the world, and this was once again verified this Wednesday evening. Lorena Wiebes easily won the scratch race. She, who was participating in her first track world championships, quickly acclimatized to this new environment. She beat Jennifer Valente and Ally Wollaston in the sprint. Marion Borras stood out with an attempt at the start of the race, but only finished 13th. The big disappointment was the elimination in the quarters of the French team sprint team. Sébastien Vigier, Rayan Helal and Melvin Landerneau narrowly lost to Great Britain (+0″138).
