Formula 1 | Sainz is surprised by Binotto’s statements on Hamilton

Recently, Mattia Binotto said that he would not have partnered Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc at Ferrari, believing that the young Monegasque must be the driver to win in the future for the Scuderia. An opinion which seemed to surprise Carlos Sainz.

“Binotto says he wouldn’t have signed Lewis?” Sainz is surprised, before preferring to remain silent on this subject and not give his opinion. “I don’t get involved in that, I keep my opinion to myself and I’ll tell you one day over dinner!”

The Spaniard had already admitted that he understood that Ferrari did not hesitate to replace him with Hamilton, because signing a seven-time world champion cannot be refused. He thinks the duo between the Briton and Leclerc will work well: “He and Leclerc are two great drivers, I’m sure they will have fun.”

Sainz has always said that he will be 100% committed until the end of his contract at Ferrari, and he confirms this even if he admits to thinking more and more about his future team: “My head is more and more motivated by the Williams project, every day that passes the body demands a change, but I want to win another race before saying goodbye to Ferrari.”

“Until the end of the year, whatever it takes, we have to finish well, with podiums or a victory. Now my head is at Ferrari and I want to do the same, or even more, with my new team, among the remaining grands prix, Mexico and Las Vegas are the ones where I have the best chance of winning a new race.
