Amazing trophies for the US GP

After the AI-generated trophy of the Canadian Grand Prix and the astonishing reward of the Italian GP, here is another prize that should attract attention in this 2024 Formula 1 season. Pirelli has in fact unveiled, a few days before start of the 19th round of the campaign in Austin, the prize which will be presented to the drivers who take their place on the podium of the main race of the United States GP this Sunday, October 20.

“Heroo” is the name of the character who gives his traits to these rewards. It is the work of the Italian artist and designer Matteo Macchiavelli, in collaboration with the Milanese firm.

A trophy that will make it hard to say “I’m not a Heroo”.

When it comes to the thinking behind this trophy and its name, here is how Pirelli explains its vision: “In any discussion about Formula 1, it is always the drivers who are presented as the heroes, and rightly so, since they are traveling at over 300 km/h, lying in a custom cockpit confined within a fiber shell of carbon, with a 1000 horsepower power unit and a tank holding just over a hundred liters of fuel right behind them.”

“While it is true that motorsport at the highest level is much safer than before, even compared to the fairly recent past, this does not take away from the heroic nature of the driver’s role. Pirelli has therefore chosen to “illustrate this by placing a somewhat special hero on the podium”

Concerning the trophy itself, whose character is perched on a tire which constitutes its base, here is what the tire company adds: “It is an interpretation of the connection between the racing car and its tires, but also a work of art that combines beauty and elegance with excitement, the feeling of speed and quality of the materials used in the composition of a Formula 1 car.”

“The trophy takes the form of a human silhouette, arms raised in triumph, all wrapped in carbon fiber and resting on a rubber base. Those of the Grand Prix winning driver and the team representative are distinguished by a helmet painted golden yellow, sprinkled with gold dust, while silver and titanium are the colors and finishes chosen respectively for the drivers who finished second and third.

No real explanation for the Mickey ears, the Lego body and the general homage to Daft Punk, then. However, note that if you like this trophy, replicas will be produced “limited series for collectors and fans of collectible artistic toys”.
