Benjamin Mendy demands 11 million pounds from Manchester City

The former Skyblues left-back would not have been paid between 2021, the year of his arrest, until the end of his contract in 2023.

After receiving a bankruptcy order for a tax debt of almost £800,000 from Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC), Benjamin Mendy decided to take action. The 30-year-old left-back has decided to take legal action against his former club, Manchester City, who owe him the sum of 11 million pounds according to The Telegraph .

Mendy was suspended by City in August 2021 after being accused of four counts of rape and was denied his £6 million annual salary while awaiting trial. After being acquitted of all charges last year, he filed a complaint against the club, claiming other players at the club had been partying around the time of the allegations.

«Several Manchester City first team players, including the club captain, were all present at the parties I attended and organized», Declares the player in a written statement contained in a bundle of additional evidence. He also accuses the club of not having supported him, believing that they did not do anything other than his Mancunian teammates.
