“Even Hamilton will never be able to match him”

Ralf Schumacher has compared his brother, Michael, to Lewis Hamilton, believing that the Briton “will never be able to equal it”.

In a recent interview, Ralf Schumacher, the brother of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher, gave a strong opinion on the hierarchy of the greatest drivers in F1.

According to him, even Lewis Hamilton, who is also a seven-time world champion and who has surpassed Michael Schumacher in the number of F1 victories, cannot “equal” his brother.

“Even Lewis Hamilton will never be able to match him”, said Ralf Schumacher in an interview on the Formel1.de YouTube channel. “Not for light years, from my point of view.”

Hamilton will, however, indeed try to overtake him, at least in terms of number of world titles, from next season at the wheel of the Ferrari.

Ralf Schumacher: “Of course I would have liked to be world champion”

Ralf Schumacher also looked back on his own career where he notably faced his brother Michael, even if he had less success than him.

“What can I do? Of course I would have liked to be World Champion”, recognizes the German whose best result in the World Championship, two fourth places.

“But that wasn’t the case. We weren’t good enough. Maybe I wasn’t good enough in part, maybe I had the wrong priorities here and there in my private life. It could be anything.”

Less victorious than his brother certainly, but still victorious in F1, Ralf Schumacher says to himself “content” of his life.

“But since I’m not a man of the past, I have to say that I would have liked to be more successful, but I’m still happy with my life.”

“It’s nice to have been perceived in this way, to have been able to win races, to have been fast enough in my career in Formula 1 and to have been able to make a difference here and there.”
