Martin Brundle, former F1 driver and famous consultant for Sky Sports F1 in Great Britain, would like to ban the use of blue flags in racing.
In F1, blue flags are waved at cars that are about to be lapped during a race, usually by the leaders, meaning that they have an obligation to move aside to allow the driver(s) in question to pass. .
It is therefore quite common to hear drivers complaining on the radio about the non-respect of the blue flags by the cars at the back of the field.
These situations can be complicated to manage for the drivers at the back of the grid, who are also fighting, on their own scale, for positions.

Brundle:Pilots have lost the habit of managing traffic”
Martin Brundle, 158 Grand Prix in F1, has thus positioned himself in favor of the ban on blue flags in the premier discipline, wishing to see the drivers “manage traffic”.
The Briton, in fact, experienced as a driver the era when this flag simply signified the arrival of a faster car, before becoming the current rule in 1995.
“I think we should ban blue flags,” Brundle said during a Q&A session hosted by Sky Sports F1 on Reddit.
“I think the drivers got out of the habit of managing traffic, like we had to do before – I used to like it!”
“Today everyone has to move out of the way like schoolchildren when the big boys come with their fast cars.”
“But the problem is that with today’s aerodynamics, we risk never being able to overtake the cars at the back of the grid. So things have changed a little bit, but I think it’s a skill that’s been lost.”
