F1: “It hurts”, Red Bull lets go after a big start

This year, Red Bull is experiencing a more complicated season, with many important departures, such as that of Adrian Newey. The star Formula 1 engineer will join Aston Martin in 2025 and for Red Bull, this departure is a big blow, Newey having designed the Austrian team’s single-seaters for 17 years.

The Formula 1 world championship is still on pause and will resume on October 20, during the United States Grand Prix. A deadline that will be important for Max Verstappen et Red Bullwho have not won for eight races. But within the Austrian team, it is also necessary to overhaul the sporting organization chart, because many thinking heads have left the fold of Red Bull for other horizons.

‘We couldn’t keep some of them’

In comments reported by Motorsport, Helmut Markothe director of Red Bulldiscusses the multiple departures within the team this season: “ When you win – and we won the last three years, and we dominated everything in 2023 – the employees are of course coveted by other teams. It’s a usual game in Formula 1. What leaves me a little perplexed are the amounts offered. We are still facing the cost limit. And these employees are often offered double or more. This meant we couldn’t keep some of them. »
