  • The 2024 Super Formula championship keeps all its promises and cannot be tighter than that! Winner of Race 1 on the Fuji circuit, which hosts a double round this weekend, Sho Tsuboi puts pressure on Tomoki Nojiri in the Drivers’ standings: thanks to his second victory this season – the first having already taken place at Fuji, last July – the Team TOM’S driver comes back to just half a point behind the championship leader before the last three races!
  • Starting from 7th place, Sho Tsuboi made a great start and gained several positions in the first laps and found himself in the tailpipes of his championship rival from the start of the race. The TOM’S driver managed a one-lap overcut and was able to resist Tomoki Nojiri despite cold tires leaving the pits.
  • Sho Tsuboi then got the better of Kakunoshin Ota and Ayumu Iwasa, who had managed the undercut by stopping much earlier. The protégé of the Red Bull clan, however, took 2nd place and a third podium this season, he who is now in 4th place in the Super Formula championship, 13.5 points behind the leader.
  • Five years after his last podium in the discipline, Kamui Kobayashi regained his place on the box by finishing 3rd with Team KCMG, thanks to a successful offbeat strategy with a stop quite early in the race. The Toyota WEC driver had not achieved a podium in Super Formula since Motegi 2019!
  • For his second appearance in Super Formula, Nyck de Vries failed to score points, in 11th place, despite a good rise of seven places compared to his starting position on the grid.
