Formula 1 | Andretti soon in F1 thanks to an agreement with American justice?

What about Andretti’s plan to enter F1 following the withdrawal of its manager, Michael Andretti?

Some see it as a sign sent to the FOM and Liberty Media to accept the entry of the American team into F1, the character being too divisive for CEO Greg Maffei and his collaborators.

Andretti remaining in a simple consulting role, the group promises clarification on the F1 project in the coming weeks. But it could also have a link following the own political maneuvers of his father, Mario Andretti!

Formula 1 is currently under the microscope of the US government. A Senate hearing could be looming as part of an investigation into how Andretti-Cadillac was shut out of the sport by Liberty Media, F1’s US owner.

Michael Andretti, who has good connections, especially among Republicans, would have done everything to resolve the whole matter politically.

The US investigation reportedly found evidence, including a WhatsApp group with (Stefano) Domenicali and some current team bosses, that proves illegal deals. The American investigation also raises alleged anti-competitive behavior.

So it’s fascinating that Andretti, 62, is taking a big step back from his Andretti Global empire – both in terms of ownership, control and even day-to-day involvement.

“Decades of racing hard doesn’t come without sacrifice and, after much reflection over the last few months, I have made the decision to step back,” he explained in an open letter.

“As I make this decision for myself, my family and this team, I know it’s a bit of a shock to many, especially to you, the fans, my extended family.”

“I’m excited to be able to spend more time with my beautiful family, including my 10-year-old twins, embrace my new title as Nonno, and explore new things personally and with my other ventures. So it’s not a goodbye, it’s just a page turning.”

Michael Andretti having now left his company and now only acting as a strategic advisor, is this the first step towards an agreement with F1 to extinguish the action of the American justice system?
