League | A hat-trick by Robert Lewandowski and Barça resumes in Liga

An ideal Sunday for FC Barcelona and Robert Lewandowski. Carried by a hat-trick from the Polish scorer, the Blaugrana won on the Alaves pitch (0-3). An eighth success in nine La Liga matches for Hansi Flick’s men who take sole lead in La Liga, three points ahead of Real Madrid. Perfect for spending a peaceful international break, before playing Sevilla and Bayern Munich at the end of October.

It only took the Catalans half an hour to secure another success at Mendizorrotza, a week after falling at Osasuna. We knew Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski were in good shape at this fairly exceptional start to the season offensively (28 goals scored by the team in 9 matches). The Brazilian was responsible for placing a free kick on the Pole’s head to open the scoring (0-1, 7th). A few minutes later, “Lewi”, once again wonderfully served by the Barcelona captain, just pushed the ball into the back of the net (0-2, 22nd).

Barça quiet

In a one-sided first period, Lewandowski scored his hat-trick (32nd, 0-3) by taking a very good ball given by Eric Garcia to cross a shot from the right, his 10th achievement in La Liga. Alaves, absolutely harmless (0 shots on target in the 1st period) did not lack aggression with numerous muscular duels but also unsportsmanlike fouls. Only the goal refused for offside on a header from Toni Martinez (45th) had worried Inaki Pena.

Building on its domination (72% possession), FC Barcelona returned from the locker room with fewer intentions and taking their foot off the gas. Only Ansu Fati on an outside right foot shot repelled by Antonio Sivera (74th) and by the post (75th) and Lewandowski missing the quadruplet (75th) will have created the danger in a completely unbridled second act. The Basques continued to try with interesting centers. Inaki Pena had to take out the tap (50th) to avoid an incoming corner, falling at the feet of an unhappy Martinez. The header of Santiago Mourino (85th) upon receiving a free kick was once again refused for offside.

Calmly, Barça, who were slow to make changes but brought in Frenkie de Jong for the second time in a row, managed. Dark on the board, Ferran Torres left his place due to injury in the 4th minute. Enough to fill the Catalan infirmary even more before a welcome truce.
