Rugby in Aude, Guissan (Fédérale 1) travels to the field of a Formula 1

Federal 1 – 4th day. Gruissan travels this Sunday afternoon (3:30 p.m.) to the leader, Saint-Sulpice-sur-Lèze. We take stock with his trainer Jean-Baptiste Cuq.

Jean-Baptiste Cuq (41 years old, nursery school director in Béziers) coaches the back lines of Aviron Gruissanais for his third season. He is paired with Laurent Pous. First assessment at the start of the second block.

What assessment do you draw from the first block?

A great victory in Mazamet tarnished by the reception of Céret, one of our worst matches in Fédérale 1 since I coached Gruissan. We completely missed it. So in these first three matches, we showed irregularity. We realized the density of the teams in this so-called group.

Concerning the match against Castelnaudary…

We have a lot of regrets about this defeat (19 to 17) because we have the feeling that we had found certain keys to destabilize them. We didn’t have enough control. Our indiscipline penalized us.

What do you think of this new block with, once again, two trips (St-Sulpice and Gaillac) for a single reception (L’Isle-en-Jourdain)?

We know that our start to the championship is complex with two receptions in six matches. The next two matches will be crucial, especially as we will evaluate ourselves against teams who have had the opportunity to move up to the next level or wish to do so.

Is St-Sulpice an undisputed leader?

Saint-Sulpice is a club that is close to my heart. I went there when I came to the Toulouse region when I arrived at sports studies in Toulouse and my father coached this team for a few years. I know very well the fervor of the village, the people who make up this club. With a very sharp staff, there is no surprise to see them at the top. They have been at the top of the table for some time now.

St-Sulpice averages 27 points per game. How to object?

St-Sulpice is a machine sure of its strengths, an oiled collective. So let’s play without complexes because we have assets. Let’s have fun and make as few mistakes as possible.
