Bayard: the French ready-to-wear brand, in liquidation, will close its doors on Saturday

It is a new emblematic ready-to-wear brand which is preparing to disappear from the French landscape. In compulsory liquidation, the French clothing company Bayard has not found a buyer and will therefore permanently close its doors this Saturday, reports Bleu Bourgogne this Wednesday.

This Tuesday was Bayard’s last hearing before the commercial court. Without a buyer, the company whose head office is located in Côtes-d’Armor announced on its storefronts and on its website that it was forced to close its 56 stores this Saturday, October 5.

56 stores, 150 employees

“We are writing these few lines with emotion to announce the definitive closure of Bayard on October 5,” writes the French firm. “For nearly 100 years, it is with pride and passion that we have supported you on a daily basis towards your natural elegance, whatever your body type,” she continues.

Bayard, which has 150 employees in France, is particularly known for having dressed several personalities such as Claude François, Johnny Hallyday and Serge Gainsbourg.

Over the last four years, Bayard has experienced a significant drop in its turnover, going from 22 to 18 million euros, reports France Info. Before Bayard, many other textile companies, such as Pimkie and Kookaï, experienced economic difficulties.
