Mercedes-AMG ONE with F1 engine breaks Nordschleife record (again)

This Monday, September 23, Mercedes once again beat its own record on the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife thanks in particular to an engine from the Mercedes F1 team exceeding 1,000 horsepower.

The Mercedes-AMG ONE, which has already been the fastest production car on the German track since October 2022, has pushed its own mark even further. Mercedes AMG ambassador and DTM driver Maro Engel was behind the wheel to achieve the record with a time of 6:29.090.

It is the first car approved for the road to go below 6:30 on the legendary Nordschleife (20.832 kilometers), since the old record already achieved by Engel at the wheel of the Mercedes-AMG ONE was 6:35.183 .

Two years ago the conditions were not ideal and some sections of the track were still a little wet”, said Maro Engel.

We knew we could do more, and we wanted to show it. Today we were able to demonstrate the maximum potential of the AMG ONE.

F1 directly involved in this record

This Mercedes AMG-ONE benefited for this record from an E PERFORMANCE hybrid propulsion coming directly from F1. The German brand announces a power of 1,063 horsepower and a top speed capped at 352 km/h. Note that the DRS system was also used during this record.

However, for reasons of lifespan and use of commercial gasoline, the engine deliberately does not reach F1 speed.

This AMG ONE also offers different driving programs including a so-called highly dynamic mode (Strat 2) equivalent to the setting used during Formula 1 qualifying sessions.
