for its centenary, Monaco beats at the last second

For the club’s centenary, AS Monaco with numerical superiority painfully beat (2-1), at Louis II.

The AS Monaco centenary evening was ultimately perfect. In front of Prince Albert II, ASM, with a black jersey for the occasion, overthrew Montpellier (2-1) on Saturday evening.

Beautiful people at Louis II for an evening that promised to be magical. However, from the first moments, the visitors wanted to impose their rhythm. Finally launched after a significant success and spark against on the last day, Michel Der Zakarian’s Montpellier wanted to make a blow to Monaco. And this move was far from won, despite a start full of desire, ASM quickly got their foot on the ball to prove dangerous. It was necessary to count on the misses of Embolo (7′) and Balogun (19′) and a double miracle save from Bertaud (preferred to Lecomte for the second time in a row) for the MHSC to stay in the game.

Against the flow of play, on a well-executed counterattack after Salisu lost the ball (16′), the great story is that of Rabby Nzingoula who opened the scoring with a strong strike and his goal counter with Montpellier.

A goal which has disrupted the almost imperial ASM since the start of the season, Adi Hütter’s men almost conceded the break on the following action, but Köhn remained vigilant (17′).

If until now, the Monegasque scorers were not exempt from all reproaches, together Embolo and Balogun have sounded the revolt. The potential Swiss turned into a passer for the former player who finished perfectly under the foot of Bertaud.

Head elsewhere Monaco still manages

For its centenary, Monaco was already looking forward to the festivities and probably to the Champions League. After its surprise success against Barça on the first day, the club from the principality hopes to continue in the most beautiful competition. This Wednesday they face the Croats of Dinamo Zagreb swept by Bayern during the previous C1 match (9-0). The tricolor representative will wear the favorite costume. But before that we had to follow the pace imposed by PSG in Ligue 1 and win against Montpellier.

If Monaco pushed throughout this second half, the often slow pace penalized the attackers who struggled to be well served. Bad luck at the posts (64′) and a solid Bertaud prevented Monaco from taking the lead for a long time. Montpellier came close to the hold-up with a masterful free kick from Savanier pushed back by the beaten Köhn’s square.

Finally, reduced to 10 at the end of the match after the expulsion of Tanguy Coulibaly (90+2nd), Montpellier did not hold the draw. In a great collective action, the incoming Lamine Camara with a great shot crucified the MHSC. His shot into the post was unstoppable.

With this success, ASM reconnects with PSG and is co-leader while waiting for the OM match tomorrow. Montpellier with four points remains a barrier.
