Before Arsenal, PSG reassures itself against Rennes with a great Barcola

We left him in decline after two very average performances against Girona and Reims, Bradley Barcola responded and in what way. The Parisian was huge on Friday evening during PSG’s success against Rennes (3-1) with a double and a shot on the post which led to Lee’s goal. Paris did itself some good before going to London to challenge Arsenal on Tuesday in the Champions League.

A great start for PSG

Paris then pushed to open the scoring and Hakimi missed the inevitable in Mandanda’s six meters by sending the ball over the bar after work from Barcola (19^e). It was the latter who would be responsible for opening the scoring. After a high recovery from Joao Neves, Dembélé started full axis and shifted to his left the number 29 of PSG who rolled a marvel of strike from the right into the left corner of Mandanda (1-0, 30^e). This score would hold until half-time and upon returning from the locker room, Hakimi was also denied a goal (48^e).

Ubiquitous Barcola

Paris was then looking for a break and he was going to come. As on the first goal, Barcola curled a shot from the right, entering the area. This time, the French international found the post but Lee followed and pushed the ball into the back of his head (2-0, 58^e). Rennes was then at the bottom and Mandanda then avoided sinking against Ruiz (61^e). On fire, Barcola was close to the double (64^e) and was finally going to offer it to himself straight away. After Hakimi tumbled down the right lane, he was on the receiving end of the Moroccan’s cross to score the third Parisian goal (3-0, 68^e).

That’s when Barcola, Marquinhos and Ruiz were replaced. This revived…Stade Rennais because the Parisians started to do anything. Beraldo conceded a penalty, transformed by Kalimuendo, formerly of the house, (3-1, 75^e). Safonov then got scared on an aerial exit (75^e) but intervened well in front of Gronbaek (84^e). Beaten by Seidu (87^e), the Russian goalkeeper was finally saved by a hand from the Rennes defender but the SRFC started playing too late to disrupt these Parisians.

PSG reassures itself and escapes to the top of Ligue 1 with 16 points. Luis Enrique’s players now have a meeting with Arsenal on Tuesday in the Champions League while Rennes has already conceded its third defeat in six matches.
