F1 returns to on the Magny-Cours circuit!

This is the good news of this Thursday morning: Formula 1 will make its big comeback in , on the Magny-Cours circuit!

Next October, the Mercedes team will take part in important private tests at the Magny-Cours circuit in France.

The tests, organised by Formula 1’s sole tyre supplier Pirelli, will take place behind closed doors and will mark a crucial step in the development of tyres for the 2025 F1 season.

Two days of testing at Magny-Cours

On October 1st and 2nd, Mercedes will be the only team present on the Magny-Cours track to take part in these exclusive tests. The program includes a day dedicated to the development of rain tires, an essential element for the performance of single-seaters during races in difficult weather conditions.

During these tests, Mercedes will work closely with Pirelli to adjust the tire performance and collect valuable data for the future.

Mugello testing: Red Bull, Ferrari and McLaren on track

A week after the Magny-Cours tests, Pirelli will organize other private tests on the Italian circuit of Mugello, on October 8 and 9. This time, three teams will be involved: Red Bull, Ferrari, and McLaren.

Red Bull, which currently dominates the championship, will participate in both days of testing. Ferrari, meanwhile, will only be present for one day. McLaren, for its part, will take part in these tests for the second time this year, but with a twist: the British team will work on the tire prototypes planned for the 2026 season, thus focusing on long-term innovations.

Objective of Pirelli private tests

The main objective of these tests is to provide high-performance tyres suitable for the single-seaters of future seasons. By developing these tyres in collaboration with the Formula 1 teams, Pirelli ensures that each team has the best solutions to face the challenges of the track.

It is important to note that, although the tests are private, the data collected is not exclusive to the participating teams. Pirelli then shares all the results with all the teams in the grid, thus ensuring fairness between the different teams and preventing some from gaining an advantage over others thanks to these sessions.
