Cycling | Paul Seixas’ historic affront at the World Championships!

In the collective imagination, the bicycle enjoys a positive image, referring to Sunday strolls to go get bread and the newspaper. But at the FFL, this two-wheeled object is the cause of a large number of traumas. The latest? Paul Seixas’ world title at the World Championships. Inexcusable.

Paul Seixas is already slipping through our fingers at 17 years old

As you know, the World Cycling Championships are currently taking place in Zurich. The paracyclists were the first to shine, winning an odious gold medal in the mixed relay. While we thought that this would be the only misstep by the French delegation, we were surprised, not to say angry, when we discovered the unacceptable performance of the young Paul Seixas in the time trial of the Junior World Championships.

At 17 years old, the one who will be racing under the colours of Decathlon-AG2R La Mondiale next year did not just take part in the time trial. No, Paul Seixas made a point of giving us a headache early in the morning on Monday. The timing needs to be reviewed. The French junior cyclo-cross champion simply swallowed up the 25 km in 28’08”43, beating the Belgians Jasper Schoofs and Matisse Van Kerckhove by just six seconds. For the first time in history, a Frenchman has been crowned junior time trial world champion. A most painful first.

“Being world champion, I didn’t even dream of it, well maybe a little bit…” Paul Seixas

Hearing the Marseillaise ring out on Monday morning is incredibly violent. We wouldn’t even wish that on our worst enemy.
