Formula 1 | Renault F1: Constructive discussions between Luca de Meo and Viry employees

Alpine Racing employees in Viry-Châtillon met today with Renault Group CEO Luca De Meo to defend the presence of the French engine on the F1 starting grids and avoid a program stoppage that would lead the French team to equip itself with a Mercedes customer engine in 2026.

According to a press release sent this evening by the Social and Economic Committee, “Employees are still waiting for a position from Renault Group management which will consider the new elements.”

“Following the meeting with Mr. De Meo, the Alpine Racing staff representatives would like to thank the Renault Group management for the opportunity given to them to discuss with the general management and the quality of the discussions during this interview.”

“The efforts and concrete proposals made by the Viry-Châtillon delegation seem to have resonated with the management of Renault Group, which is continuing its reflection on maintaining F1 activities on the French site.”

“As things stand, the threat of a halt to F1 engine development in remains current, the risk of losing unique know-how persists at the very moment when the industry in France needs to support its talents and consolidate its national collaborative network.”

“Staff representatives remain mobilized, determined and attentive to employees. Preparations for future actions are continuing and we will communicate on this subject in the coming days.”
