Like every year, AirlineRatings.com has revealed its ranking of the 25 safest airlines in the world. The site examined data from 385 companies, including serious incidents over the past two years, fleet age, incident rates and pilot skills and training.
No change in mind
Air New Zealand comes at the top of the ranking, ahead of the Australian Qantas, as in 2024. “First place was still very close between Air New Zealand and Qantas, with only 1.50 points difference between the two companies aerial. Although both meet the highest standards of safety and pilot training, Air New Zealand continues to have a younger fleet than Qantas, which separates them,” said Sharon Petersen, CEO of AirlineRatings. com.

-In third place on the podium, three companies tied: Cathay Pacific, Qatar Airways and Emirates. It was impossible to decide between them: “From the age of the fleet to the skills of the pilots, including safety practices, the size of the fleet and the number of incidents, their scores were identical. »
Two notable absences
Virgin Australia, Etihad, All Nippon Airways, EVA Air, Korean Air and Turkish Airlines complete the top 10. Next come TAP Portugal, Hawaiian Airlines, American Airlines, SAS, British Airways, Iberia, Finnair, Lufthansa/Swiss, Japan Airlines, Air Canada, Delta Airlines, Vietnam Airlines and United Airlines. Absent last year, Iberia and Vietnam Airlines are entering the ranking. On the other hand, Singapore Airlines and KLM do not appear there, due, according to AirlineRatings.com, to incidents that occurred.
Regarding low-cost airlines, Hong Kong Express, Jetstar Group and Ryanair form the top three. They are followed by easyJet, Frontier Airlines, AirAsia, Wizz Air, VietJet Air, Southwest Airlines and Volaris. Absent from the ranking in 2024, Hong Kong Express occupies first place thanks to the absence of serious incidents and a relatively impeccable safety record.
