Formula 1 | Horner: RB21 should be more user-friendly to drive than RB20

Red Bull revealed at the start of the year the presentation date of its RB21 and, if the team really plays the game, it will therefore be presented on stage at the O2 Arena on February 18 (read here).

This new Red Bull will perhaps have already experienced a run at Silverstone, otherwise it will do so afterwards, as Christian Horner, its director, confirms today.

Horner is already setting the objectives for this : to be more “friendly” after the difficulties encountered with the RB20 of 2024.

"We have a good understanding of the weak points," he assures.

“I would say that around Imola we introduced an upgrade that made the car much more capable and the operating window became very narrow.”

“When you're in that window, like the four laps in Austria which were enough for pole, it was quite excellent, but if you sidestepped a millimeter outside, the car became problematic to drive .”

“Max was able to mask it and get around it, and that’s where Sergio particularly struggled.”

“So the RB21 has to be more user-friendly to ride than the RB20. The engineers have focused a lot on how to widen that window, not necessarily by adding ultimate performance, but simply by widening the window so that we can meet the different challenges and have a much wider operating window.”
