Forbes magazine has published the ranking of salaries paid by Formula 1 teams to drivers for this 2024 season. Unsurprisingly, the one who earned the most money is none other than Max Verstappen. But how much did the Red Bull driver earn for the past year?
Without any real surprise, Max Verstappen would be the highest paid Formula 1 driver on the grid in 2024. It must be said that the 27-year-old has just won his 4th world championship title in a row and has once again achieved wonders at the wheel of 'a Red Bull less dominant on the track than in 2023. To win his new title of world champion, the Dutch driver won 9 victories, he signed 8 pole positions and also climbed five times on the podium (4 times on the 2nd step, once on the 3rd step).
A salary of $75 million, bonuses included
The very serious magazine Forbes has delivered its estimates on what Formula 1 drivers have received this season. Estimates based on financial documents, legal declarations as well as discussions with well-placed members of the Formula 1 industry. Probably senior team officials. It thus emerges that Max Verstappen would have received a total of 75 million dollars. 60 million for his annual contract which runs until the end of 2028. To this are added 15 million dollars in bonuses. We imagine that this amount could have been higher if Red Bull had won the constructors' title. Note that this revenue does not include Max Verstappen's individual sponsorship deals.
