Alpine executive advisor Flavio Briatore reveals he has promised Renault boss Luca de Meo to make his F1 team a success within three years.
Briatore, who returned to the Alpine team last June, praised the recovery of the team, which finished the constructors' championship in sixth place thanks to a finish to the season that no one, even within the team, really expected.
“This is everyone’s result and I want to congratulate everyone because it’s team spirit, that’s what I want”he said in a video published by the team. “I promised Luca de Meo to put together a winning team in three years, more or less.”
Alpine has become “very, very strong” at the end of the season, he added. “Pierre [Gasly] did an incredible job. And Jack [Doohan] was good: for the first race, he was good. We have to stick together, have a few experienced people on the team”he added. “But I like the team”.
“The racing team is completely changing. Pit stops, we are competitive now. We now have a racing team. This is what I want. We produce a car, but now we produce a fast car. And Pierre, I discovered a great pilot”.
