Alex Albon regrets having experienced problems with his FW46 during FP2 of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The Williams F1 driver lacked running but he noticed immediately that the car was faster than last week in Qatar.
“We have to investigate a little more, we changed the tires and it was fine again. It's a shame, we missed the most important session with the long stints, and we will be a little blind in the race. The car is more competitive than in Qatar, but I'm not comfortable yet, I have to do some laps” Albon said.
He and his teammate will have a penalty of 5 places at the start: “That's why the long stints were important for us in FP2, we didn't think too much about fast laps with little fuel. We'll try to see the data, we won't do long stints on soft tires, I I don't think anyone will.”
Franco Colapinto is satisfied with Williams' pace but regrets a loss of time in FP2: “It looks good for us. I went wide and hit the curb quite hard so we had to repair the damage. But the car is fast, we are strong and that's positive. It looks better than in Qatar .”
Luke Browning (photo below) took part in his first test session behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car, and he loved the experience: “Fantastic! I loved it, it was very pleasant. I thank Williams and James, it was a great learning experience. I gained experience and it teaches me a lot of things for next year.”
“It's never easy to find yourself in a Formula 1 car for the first time in an official session. We started slowly and I brought the car back at the end of the session, and it's over for me now. “
“To be honest, the WIlliams academy has been great in integrating me and I'm feeling good. I've also been attending team meetings and that's important, so I hope we continue that .”
