Alain Prost at the heart of a vast investigation

The Formula 1 driver is at the heart of a documentary series broadcast from Sunday on Canal+.

Alain Prost is one of the greatest glories of French sport. With 51 Grand Prix victories and four world championship titles, the former McLaren driver is undoubtedly the greatest French driver, but his legacy goes beyond Formula 1 or motorsport.

However, unlike Yannick Noah, Bernard Hinault or Michel Platini, Alain Prost enjoys relative popularity. “I have always, I find, lacked humanity or humanity in my career”he explains. Enough to encourage him to look back on his rich career in a documentary series broadcast from Sunday on Canal+.

“Out of modesty, also out of professional conscience (and) out of difficulty, because it wasn't always obvious with the media, no one knows my life or my childhood”he confided during the presentation of the series in six 26-minute episodes, simply entitled “Prost”. A documentary that took three years of work from producer Saga Blanchard and directors Audrey Estrougo and Stéphane Colineau.

Alain Prost wants to “leave a trace”

This series is also an opportunity for Alain Prost to remind us that his career is not limited to his duel with Ayrton Sonna, who for his part was entitled to a Netflix biopic. “ For 30 years I have been living with a sort of reduction in my life which is the Prost-Senna episode. he lamented before explaining that “I’ve wanted to talk about something other than sport for a long time.”

The series therefore also focuses on its beginnings.
“As I got older, over time, I wanted to leave a mark, I wanted to share. When I say that this is the period of which I am most proud, it is not a challenge, he explained to Motorsport. This is really the beginning. It's a bit simplistic to tell it like that, it was of course much more complicated, much more magical at the same time because you have to see in the details how it happens. Afterwards, the rest becomes almost mundane: the race, the competition, even if it was magical. »
