Formula 1 | RB : A 'disaster' for Tsunoda and a mistake for Lawson

Yuki Tsunoda finished 13th at the Qatar Grand Prix, despite gaining four positions at the start. The RB driver thought he had done the hardest part, but his VCARB 01 had no rhythm during the rest of the race, and he was very disappointed, especially as Alpine and Haas scored good points.

“I had a good start, that's what I was aiming for. I knew the start would be the only opportunity, and after that it was a disaster. I didn't imagine such a bad pace, I gave everything, but it was not enough” Tsunoda said.

“It's difficult to start from scratch but we have to do it, we have to learn for the future, and we have to hope to be successful there, as we were last year. We have to review what's happening. came here to be better, and also for next year.”

Liam Lawson finished 14th just behind his teammate, and he stood out with a collision with Valtteri Bottas for which he took the blame: “In these conditions, we try to do as much as possible to warm up the tires, I thought I would have more grip.”

I tried to overtake and in the middle of the corner I realized I had no grip. I spun because I was trying not to hit Valtteri but I did. I'm sorry, that wasn't my intention,” Lawson regrets.

“After the spin, the pace wasn't bad, but we were completely out of position. We're not fast enough to fight with the guys we're fighting with. The track is difficult for us , we have made progress this year but more is needed.”
