Alex Albon will get to know Carlos Sainz as a teammate earlier than expected since the Spaniard will drive for Williams F1 on the Monday after Abu Dhabi, during a day privatized by the team on the Yas Marina circuit, before the official test which will take place on Tuesday.
Albon will not be at the wheel of the FW46 but will be present in the garage both days.
Has he already started talking with Sainz? And what can he expect from Williams in his debut?
“Honestly, not too much discussion. I wish I could say more, but I think obviously once Abu Dhabi happens, first of all I'll be very interested in his feedback on the car during testing , to see where it stands compared to Ferrari.”
“I think obviously he'll have a very fresh idea of the Ferrari and then he'll come into the Williams to see where are our strengths? Where are our weaknesses? And I honestly think that's one of the things I 'expect the most with the arrival of Carlos.'
“I remember my time at Red Bull and coming to Williams and obviously there are a lot of things on our mind, things we want to try to improve for the team.
“And at the same time, I’ve had three years now at Williams, and it’s nice to almost have someone a little fresher than me in terms of vision.”
“And coming from a team like Ferrari, I'm sure he will bring a lot to the team. And of course I know he will push me. He's having a very good year this year too. But it will be a good challenge.”
