This Saturday, the Alpine Formula 1 team formalized the arrival, for 2025, of Estonian Paul Aron, as reserve driver.

Alpine has its new reserve driver. This Saturday, on the sidelines of the Qatar Grand Prix, the Franco-British Formula 1 team announced the arrival, in this role and for 2025, of Paul Aron. The Estonian, now only 20 years old, currently occupies fourth place in the Formula 2 world championship standings, which he is competing for the very first time, with the Hitech team. With only two weekends left before the end of the season, the Estonian still remains in the race for the title. This makes him the second best rookie, in this same category, after the Brazilian Gabriel Bortoleto, leader of this championship and who will drive a Formula 1 car next year for Kick Sauber. In 2023, Paul Aron finished in third place in the Formula 3 world championship.

Doohan promoted to starter for 2025

In the press release announcing his arrival at Alpine, the Italian Flavio Briatore, executive advisor of this team, reacted: “We are very happy to see Paul join us. There is a renewal of generations in Formula 1, as we see with many young drivers making an impact as soon as they arrive. We believe Paul is one of the top talents and we look forward to seeing him develop into an driver.” Aron also shared his joy: “It's incredible to join Alpine. They're definitely a great team for any young driver and I'm really delighted that Flavio (Briatore) and Oliver (Oakes, owner of the team Hitech and boss of the Alpine team, editor's note) are offering me this opportunity. Before 2025 and the hard work linked to the role of reserve, I have a championship to concentrate on at the end of the year and I will give everything to play for the title.“Reserve driver in 2024 at Alpine, the Australian Jack Doohan has been promoted to the starter for 2025. He will team up with the Frenchman Pierre Gasly. The Frenchman Esteban Ocon, another starting driver for this team in 2024, is leaving for the American team Haas.
