While Mercedes scored a double in Las Vegas, Toto Wolff, team director, indicates that the Qatar circuit should be better suited “to the strong points” of the W15.
Having struggled in recent weeks, Mercedes had an incredible weekend in Las Vegas, concluding the Grand Prix with a double led by George Russell ahead of Lewis Hamilton, all with a truly impressive pace.
Even if Toto Wolff points out the big differences between the Las Vegas and Qatar Grands Prix and the fact that the competition will be stronger at Losail, However, he remains optimistic for the coming weekend, since the Qatari circuit could very well suit the Silver Arrows.

“The Las Vegas and Qatar races couldn’t be more different,” first indicated Toto Wolff in the Mercedes press release presenting the Qatar GP. “The Losail International Circuit has many high-speed sections and few, if any, major braking zones. Although the race takes place later in the calendar than last year, it will still be very hot. This contrasts with the cool conditions and many low-speed sections of Las Vegas.”
“No matter what, we are aiming for a good performance again this weekend,” continues Wolff. “The W15 seemed more at home on circuits with lots of high-speed corners, like Silverstone or Spa. We certainly benefited from the cold night in Las Vegas, but the Qatar track should be more favorable to our car's strengths. We know our competitors will be stronger than they were last weekend, but we will aim to put the car in a good window once again and fight at the front.”
