Even if Sergio Pérez had another very complicated weekend in Las Vegas, the Mexican does not lose hope, claiming in particular to have “understood exactly what happened in qualifying”.
Qualified 16th and 15th on the grid in Las Vegas, Sergio Pérez could not do better than tenth place at the finish of the Grand Prix, where Max Verstappen finished fifth.
Pérez is in poor form to say the least, having scored only two small points during the last three race weekends. While his garage neighbor, Max Verstappen, won the drivers' title with two races still to go, Red Bull is only in third place in the constructors' championship, largely linked to the poor performance of Sergio Pérez.

Pérez: “We are on the verge of turning things around”
However, the Mexican was optimistic after the Las Vegas Grand Prix, believing he was “on the verge of turning things around.”
“I think [que samedi]we understood what happened, this is the way things are happening now,” said Sergio Pérez at the F1 microphone. “We are on the verge of turning things around. The rhythm is there, it’s happening. We are progressing and we understood exactly what happened in Qualifying. We should have done a better job and we didn’t, so we’re going to work hard as a team to get back in the last two races.”
Sergio Pérez is currently in eighth place in the World Drivers' Championship, last of the drivers belonging to the four best teams. Relegated to 251 points behind Max Verstappen, he is also the only driver of the four top teams not to have won in 2024.
