Yuki Tsunoda set the seventh fastest time in qualifying for the Las Vegas Grand Prix. The RB F1 driver is delighted to see how his team was able to turn around a bad situation during the first free practice sessions of the weekend.
“I did some good laps in Q2 and it was good for all of us to find ourselves in this situation, even though we were 19th and 20th in FP1. Session after session, we turned the situation around, and it didn't Not every team can do that.” Tsunoda said.
“And even for the future, if it happens to us again, we will have proof that it happened to us and that we did it in the past, so we will have good confidence. Congratulations to the team. Haas and Pierre did a good job, and we need to be close to them for the championship.”
The Japanese must now convert this into points tomorrow: “It won't be easy, I didn't expect Q3. It won't be easy, but we will do the best we can. We don't know what could happen, there were neutralizations there last year and anything can happen with these temperatures.”
Liam Lawson was eliminated in Q2 and he abandoned his fast lap after a mistake: “I was struggling, I wasn't really improving and I don't know why we had so little grip. I slid a lot in turn 13 and I have to understand why.”
The one who is 15th thinks he could have done better: “It's a difficult weekend with these conditions on a unique circuit. But that's no excuse because we are all on the same circuit, and I will try to improve the car and progress.
