A few days before the Las Vegas GP, Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon spoke about Alpine's objectives for the end of the F1 season. The French pilots absolutely want to ride the feat achieved in Brazil!
Will Alpine's double podium allow the French team to end its season in style? Possible. By scoring 15 pts in Sao Paulo, Pierre Gasly gave himself the right to dream of a Top 10. 12th in the F1 ranking with 26 pts, the Alpine driver is only 5 units behind Nico Hülkenberg, 10th (31 pts ).
Esteban Ocon scored 18 of his 23 pts during the Brazilian GP. Reboosted, the future Haas driver does not intend to stay on this feat. Quite the contrary! This weekend, Alpine is heading to the Street Circuit to deliver another performance at the 2024 Las Vegas Formula 1 GP.
“We must maintain our 6th place in the F1 championship”
Asked by TurboEsteban Ocon has not hidden his ambition. “We want to extend the dynamic of Sao Paulo. The objective is to maintain our 6th position in the championship” announced the Alpine driver. The ranking of F1 manufacturers is in fact one of the last major issues at the end of the 2024 season.
6th with 49 pts, Alpine dreams of maintaining its lead over Haas (46 pts) and Racing Bulls (44 pts). Beyond the honors, this 6th place would guarantee a nice financial sum for the French team. Enough to motivate Pierre Gasly, also aware of the challenges of the Las Vegas GP.
“The fight remains intense for 6th place in the championship. We want to maintain our position” Gasly repeated. “I really think we can do it!” then said the man who has not caused any damage to his car since the start of the season.
It remains to be seen whether the feat achieved by Alpine in Brazil is not an isolated feat. Oliver Oakes has already warned that we should not get excited. Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly are ready to do battle on the asphalt at the Las Vegas GP. And for the first time in a long time, they seem to be on the same page.
