At 65 years old, the skipper of Tout commence en Finistère – Armor-Lux achieved a superb rise in the rankings last night.

The night from Friday to Saturday in the Vendée Globe smiled on Jean Le Cam (Everything begins in Finistère – Armor-Lux), who jumped from tenth place which he occupied on Friday at 7:00 p.m. to first on Saturday at the 7:00 a.m. check-in. Le Cam, the dean of the competition at 65 years old, who after passing the island of Madeira chose an option further east than the rest of the fleet, was 28.30 miles ahead of the fleet at daybreak. The “King Jean” opened up a slight gap on his pursuers: Friday at 7:00 p.m., the third, Sébastien Simon, was 7.70 miles behind the then leader. The British Sam Goodchild (Vulnerable), second on Friday evening, is now only sixth, while the leading skippers are heading towards Cape Verde. Far behind, the Hungarian Szabolcs Weöres is in great difficulty. He diverted to the Canary Islands to carry out repairs to his mainsail.
