Three months before the official arrival of engineer Adrian Newey at Silverstone, Aston Martin announces that its technical director Dan Fallows will be assigned to other activities next season.

The partnership established between Lawrence Stroll, the owner of Aston Martin, and Adrian Newey, the star designer in Formula 1, was inevitably going to have consequences on the internal organization of the team.

With a three-star cast of technical leaders, from Andy Cowell to Bob Bell to Enrico Cardile, the British team took on the appearance of a Mexican army.

Full powers for Newey

Newey will obviously oversee the entire technical department and bring in his own men while restructuring the team as he wishes with decision-making power commensurate with his shareholder status.

We learned yesterday that Dan Fallows (photo above, with team principal Mike Krack), himself a former assistant to Newey at Red Bull, was removed, undoubtedly paying for the poor performance of the AMR24 which he was in charge. The two parties jointly announced that from this November, the English engineer will no longer be technical director of the Formula 1 team while remaining within the group.

“I would like to thank Dan for his contribution to Aston Martin F1 over the past two years, said Andy Cowell, CEO of the team. Dan led the team to success in the AMR23 which achieved eight podiums last season.”

Except that this car was rather the fruit of the previous team (ex-Force India and Racing Point) under the direction of engineer Andrew Green, historic technical pillar of the Silverstone team since the Jordan era.

Cardile will take over in March

“During my time at Aston Martin F1, it has been a joy and privilege to guide the technical team on their journey to race and championship victory, Fallows commented. It's time for me to pass the baton, but I look forward to seeing the team's future success, which I'm sure will not take long to come.”

The position of technical director is passed on to Enrico Cardile, from Ferrari, who will himself be supervised by Adrian Newey from his taking office in March 2025. As for Fallows, he could be directed towards the Hypercar program of Aston Martin in the WEC.
