What if Alpine finally decided to hire Franco Colapinto instead of Jack Doohan?
Alpine announced last August that it would award the seat vacated by Esteban Ocon to its reserve driver Jack Doohan. Three months later, it seems that the tide may have turned, while Alpine is experiencing an up and down season. Williams driver Franco Colapinto has made a strong impression since joining the grid in place of Logan Sargeant.
The Argentine driver is performing well, but has no drive for next season. However, he showed that he knew how to use it, even with a Williams in his hands.
“It seems that Flavio Briatore has changed his mind and wants to steal from the competition the Argentinian Franco Colapinto”, this is what Gazetta dello Sport reports. Jack Doohan, who has not yet had the chance to participate in an F1 Grand Prix, could see himself snatched the second Alpine seat.
The Times later claimed that Briatore's desire to recruit the Williams driver is such that Alpine would “more open to the idea of a loan” than Red Bull, which for its part would like to recruit the Williams driver.

“All I can say for now is that we are exploring the options available for him in the future, and we hope to have some news that we can talk about. But for now, there's not much”, said James Vowles, Williams team principal.
Finally, as Alpine tries to calm speculation, Bernie Ecclestone told Blick newspaper that Flavio Briatore had contacted him to express his interest in Williams' new recruit. According to the Swiss media, the Italian told the former F1 leader that he “absolutely wanted Colapinto for 2025” and that the sum of 20 million dollars associated with the Argentinian did not pose a problem.no problem”.
For its part, the French team posted a video of Jack Doohan in full training on with the caption of the photo “2025 in progress”.
