After the confirmations of Oliver Bearman, Kimi Antonelli, Liam Lawson, Jack Doohan and Gabriel Bortoleto in Formula 1 for 2025, Isack Hadjar is still aiming for the FIA Formula 2 title and more if desired.
A worthy representative of the rising generation, the French hopeful has nothing to envy of his peers and hopes to join them on the starting grid of the Grands Prix next year.
Hadjar is in contention for the FIA F2 title, 4.5 points behind leader Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of the final two meetings (four rounds) in Doha and Abu Dhabi.
Third man in F1
He also serves as an official reserve for Red Bull Racing as well as the RB team (pictured above), ready to pounce should an opportunity arise.
“Actually, I was already last year, but second behind Liam Lawson, because I was in F2 and he wasn't,
specifies Isack. When Liam was racing in Japan in Super Formula, I was already the one officiating. This time I'm with Racing Bulls for the last six weekends due to Lawson's recent promotion.”
“I don’t necessarily see it as another step towards tenure, because it remains a reserve role,
he recalls. On the other hand, we have seen in recent weeks that there could be a lot to gain if there is an opportunity over a weekend, but I am not going to pray that something happens to anyone. Being in contact with the team remains a good way to learn.”
Faster than Colapinto, according to Marko
Even if the line-up of the two Red Bull teams has not yet been determined for 2025, we know that the future of Sergio Pérez hangs by a thread and that Lawson is in pole position to succeed him in the top team Red Bull Racing. In which case, Hadjar should logically replace the New Zealander at RB even if the name of Franco Colapinto was also mentioned.
“Isack is absolutely ready for F1, says Helmut Marko, Red Bull's gray eminence. He was faster than Colapinto in all junior categories. We will wait for the post-season testing in Abu Dhabi before deciding which candidates will be retained in 2025.”
