Former F1 team boss pushes Red Bull to find Sergio Perez replacement

The wait is long at the Red Bull garage. For the moment confirmed for the 2025 Formula 1 season, Sergio Perez still has his place alongside Max Verstappen, but for how long? On borrowed time since the start of this campaign, the Mexican has unfortunately not shown enough good things at the wheel of the RB20. However, the native of Guadalajara had started his year well, reaching the podium four times, between Bahrain and China. But since then, nothing on the horizon, a series of poor performances and abandonments.

Since the return of last October, following the autumn break, in Austin, the Austrian clan has doubled the pressure on Checo Perez. By integrating Liam Lawson into Racing Bulls, the red bull brand wanted to test its driver. In a fierce battle on the track in Mexico City and Brazil, the young New Zealander proved that he had the pace and the ability to ride for a top team. But with the latest rumor from Carlos Sainz, the Milton Keynes team's plans can change very quickly. Although Christian Horner, Red Bull team principal, denied this information, one of his colleagues would like to see the Spaniard in the car with the three-time reigning champion.

Carlos Sainz, the best choice?

During a podcast called “Formula for Success”, founder and former boss of the Jordan team, Eddie Jordan, spoke about Red Bull's possible choices for the second driver. According to his words, Carlos Sainz, former member of the Austrian sector, should return to rejoin the group.

“This is what should happen [Sainz remplaçant Perez] and if I was the boss of Red Bull, don't forget that Carlos Sainz joined the Red Bull family many, many years ago. So it's not someone who comes from Ferrari or who comes from elsewhere. It comes from the fact that he was a Red Bull driver. That's what I told Carlos Sr, you never know what door will open for you because Formula 1 is full of intrigue, full of excitement, full of unknown, you can't believe what is likely to happen. And that’s one of the scenarios that could happen, but it’s unlikely at the moment.”
