James Vowles, the director of Williams F1, admitted that the Sao Paulo Grand Prix was very difficult for the team. The Briton was somewhat demoralized when taking stock of the weekend at Interlagos, where Alex Albon and Franco Colapinto had three accidents, and where Alpine scored 35 points.
“Formula 1 is made for you to experience incredible sensations and results, but also moments of depression. I think it's fair to say that this weekend is the second of these two cases” Vowles said.
“We had three incredibly serious accidents in just a few hours and we have a lot of work to do to get back on our feet before we go to Las Vegas in a few weeks. Our rivals, Alpine, were fast in the race. No doubt about it -above.”
Williams is not giving up against Alpine and other teams: “They deserved these positions, but they scored a huge pile of points, which took them back to a very high position in the championship and demoted us to ninth place.
“They are far away but I never give up until it is time to give up and it won't be until we are in Abu Dhabi and the checkered flag has fallen. We have two fast drivers and a car quick with us.”
“We must participate in each of these weekends and do everything possible, while ensuring that we always keep the focus on 2025 and 2026, because that, as I have always said, is where our true objective.”
“It's about laying the right foundations for 2026. That doesn't make Sunday any less painful. Far from it, I'm suffering at the moment. But actually, I wanted to watch this race until the end to m “Make sure I remember that, because that's not how I want us to feel in the future.”
