Charles Leclerc is not unhappy with his Ferrari's performance at Interlagos, but the Scuderia driver is concerned about McLaren F1's performance in Brazil. If he still hopes to be able to challenge them, he also anticipates a situation in which he will secure big points behind Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.
“I'm happy because we maximized today's result, I don't think there was anything better to do today” Leclerc said. “The McLarens are so fast that we are a little behind this weekend and it will be important to take points.”
“I don't like to say this so early in the weekend, so we're going to give it our all to challenge them. But given the pace they showed today, I think they were particularly strong.”
Carlos Sainz thinks he can do better than his fifth place if he can find more performance with the soft tires: “It was very difficult with the track temperature dropping. The tires had a lot of trouble getting into the window. We did one lap with these tires, it will serve us for the rest of the weekend.”
“With the soft tires there's a bit of time to be found. But I remember in Austin we were weak with the softs on Friday, and then for qualifying we managed to find a bit more time, so yes that's the plan – try to find something more with the softs tomorrow for qualifying.”
