Absent for the race meetings in Indonesia and Japan, Miguel Oliveira will also not participate in the Australian Grand Prix, scheduled for this weekend. As a reminder, during the first day of driving, during free practice 1, the native of Almada had fallen heavily between turns four and five of the Mandalika circuit. After extensive medical examinations, MotoGP doctors declared the Trackhouse rider unfit to compete, he suffered a fractured right wrist. The day after the crash, the latter took a plane to go to his native country to carry out an operation. At this stage, only Oliveira’s staff has communicated on the progress of the rehabilitation of number 88. Injured for the moment, it is therefore the Aprilia test pilot, Lorenzo Savadori who replaces him.

A return by the end of the season?

Ahead of the seventeenth round of the 2024 MotoGP world championship, the Trackhouse Aprilia team spoke about Miguel Oliveira’s state of health and convalescence. According to the team principal of the team, Davide Brivio, it is still difficult to set a date for the Portuguese driver’s return. In the coming weeks, two races are set for the Thai and Malaysian Grand Prix, further information will be communicated in due course. If the latter is still injured, he should return on November 19 for post-season testing, riding his new machine, the Pramac Yamaha, alongside Jack Miller.

“His recovery is going well and Miguel will be checked again by his medical team in the coming weeks. There is no confirmed date for his return to competition. We are going to Australia to start the next triple-header at the end of the season and unfortunately we will not be able to count on the presence of Miguel, who continues his convalescence. But we continue to monitor his progress day by day to see when he can return.”
