Lyon miraculously wins in Toulouse

Tasteless for a good part of the match, OL snatched victory in added time (1-2) on Sunday in , during the sixth day of Ligue 1.

-style robbery. Beaten last weekend by on the wire (2-3), Lyon traveled to Toulouse with ambitions this Sunday for the 6th day of Ligue 1, three days after reassuring themselves against Olympiakos in the Europa League (2-0). Manhandled for a good part of the match, uninspired offensively, OL achieved an unexpected victory (1-2) on the Stadium pitch.

It only took 14 minutes for Toulouse, who had never scored in the first half hour of a match this season, to break through the Rhone defense. Vincent Sierro put Yann Gboho into orbit, scorer with a heavy shot under the bar (14th, 1-0). Pumped up, the Violets pitched their tent in the opposing camp but the right gesture escaped them. In a twist of fate, OL got back together: a harmless cross from Saël Kumbedi was deflected by Mark McKenzie then Rasmus Nicolaisen, thus deceiving the unfortunate Guillaume Restes (1-1, 28th).

Lucas Perri kept OL alive

Pierre Sage’s players then showed a better face, without creating any chances. Georges Mikautadze, preferred to Alexandre Lacazette up front, was very discreet, scoring a great header from a corner (39th). Toulouse regained momentum after the break, but came up against an impeccable Lucas Perri, whether on an attempt from Cristian Casseres (49th), a powerful shot from Gboho (72nd) or especially on a deflection from Joshua King in the box (90th + 3).

The draw seemed inevitable, as Lyon was struggling in attack. Wilfried Zaha, starting for his first minutes in Ligue 1, never saw the light of day, and the entries of Rayan Cherki and Lacazette changed nothing… until added time. Cherki, scorer against OM and Olympiakos, managed a sleight of hand to infiltrate the 16 meters. His blocked shot benefited Malick Fofana, a scorer from the surface on OL’s only shot on target in this match (90th+5, 1-2).

It was an authentic heist that the Lyonnais pulled off, no further ahead in the game but now 10th in the standings. A valuable success far from their bases before receiving in a week. Toulouse, 15th, can blame themselves, as Gboho, Frank Magri and Shavy Babicka had interesting balls to negotiate throughout the game.
