“I have loved this sport all my life,” commented Ricciardo on his Instagram account. “It was wild and wonderful. A real adventure. To the teams and individuals who have played a role in my career, I would like to say thank you. I also thank the fans who sometimes love ec sport more than me (laughs). I had my ups and downs but it was fun. In truth I wouldn’t change anything. See you for the next adventure.”

Christian Horner, the boss of RBR who has always been a staunch defender of Ricciardo, also praised his protégé.

“From the moment he arrived at Red Bull, it was clear that Daniel was much more than just a driver”indicates the Briton. “His constant enthusiasm, sense of humor and attitude will leave an indelible mark on Milton Keynes and F1 as a whole. Thank you Daniel for the wins, the smiles, the songs, the shoeys, you will always have a special place in the Red Bull family. 8 victories, 32 podiums, 1329 points. These stats aren’t the only measure of who you are and what you’ve accomplished. Thank you Daniel.”

Make way for young people and it’s the promising Liam Lawson who will support Yuki Tsunoda at Visa Cash in less than a month. The Kiwi had already had a brilliant interim in 2023 where he had to replace the injured Ricciardo for a few races, not without scoring points in the process.

“I welcome Liam,” continues Laurent Mékies, main team at Visa Cash. “He already knows our team well having driven for us last season. He did well in difficult circumstances. It’s fantastic to see young talents from the Red Bull family taking the next step. We can’t wait to get to work and focus on the rest of the season together.”

Note that Lawson has not yet been confirmed for 2025. But that should only be a formality, especially if he performs well until the end of the season. Which no one doubts, especially the terrible Helmut Marko.
