THE SPORT SCAN – Milutin Osmajic, striker for Preston in the English second division, allegedly bit an opponent playing at Blackburn.

An investigation has been opened by English football authorities against Montenegrin international striker from Preston (2nd division), Milutin Osmajic, accused of having bitten an opponent of the Blackburn club on Sunday.

Osmajic, 25, is accused of having bitten Blackburn defender Owen Beck at the end of the Preston-Blackburn match (0-0) on Sunday during the 6th day of the Championship, according to a press release from the Football Association (FA).

“It is alleged that the attacker committed an act of violence by biting an opponent around the 87th minute”wrote FA, specifying that Osmajic had until Monday to respond to the accusations.

Blackburn manager John Eustace told the post-match press conference that his player had “a large bite mark on the back of his neck.”

Other bites have punctuated the history of the English football championship. Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez, who now plays for Inter Miami, has been sanctioned several times during his career. He was notably suspended for 10 matches when he played for Liverpool after biting Chelsea player Branislav Ivanovic in April 2013.
