A nice surprise. That’s probably what Bordeaux fans said to themselves when they learned that Andy Carroll was joining their club. In an interview given to our colleagues at RMC Sport the English striker spoke about the reasons that led him to choose the Bordeaux project despite the difficulties that the club is experiencing. The 35-year-old player was very honest about the fact that his arrival in Bordeaux brought him nothing financially while his salary is estimated at 3,500 euros: “To be honest, it even costs me money to have gone to play for the Girondins. But I play football and I’m just happy to play football. I want to be part of the history of this club and to be honest it’s not a question of money.” he confided.
The former Liverpool player spoke about the simple pleasure he gets from playing football: “You know, I just love football and it was an opportunity to play for a big French club. The level you play at doesn’t matter in the end. I love playing football and that’s what I came here to do.” The English player wants “To fight as best we can to get this club back up. We’re going to try to put it back where it belongs.” he admitted. Bordeaux’s next match will be a trip to Saumur on October 5.
