beIN Sports, which pays 40 million euros per season in television rights to Ligue 2, is not budging, it will not change the multiplex slot. On September 5, Florent Houzot, the channel’s editorial director, called for an end to the violence before the situation escalated, even if it meant taking the radical decision of withdrawal: “I regret that the clubs that have a contract with beIN Sports are not more supportive. For some of them, through our payment of TV rights, it is more than 50% of their income. At some point, they need to position themselves more clearly. If this is not the case, they will have to draw the consequences. If they vote in the majority for a L2 multiplex on Saturday, it will be without beIN Sports.”
