Olympic and Paralympic medalists to be decorated, parade planned on Champs-Elysées

The day promises to be grandiose. On Saturday, September 14, thousands of people are expected on the Champs-Elysées. 8 to 10,000 people will march in a parade to celebrate those who made the Olympic and Paralympic Games a success. There will of course be the athletes and their entourages, but also members of the Paris 2024 organization, RATP employees, government officials (healthcare workers, police, etc.).

A decoration for Olympic and Paralympic medalists

The parade will start at 4pm from the bottom of the Champs-Elysées to the Place de l’Etoile. At around 6:30pm, Thomas Bach will present the Olympic Cup, a trophy that aims to thank those who support the Olympic movement, to France. Finally, the medalists will be decorated in front of the general public and their loved ones by the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron. At 9pm, a concert will close this day.

At the 2024 Olympic Games, France shone like rarely before at the Olympic Games with a total of 64 medals and a fifth place in the medal table (16 gold, 26 silver, 22 bronze). The French delegation competing in the Paralympic Games is well on its way to imitating this result with a provisional fifth place with 61 medals already won (17 gold, 22 silver, 22 bronze).
